I’ve just been playing around with the formatting of this website. I saw a site back in late November that had small images designating off-site links. I started to play with it at the time, but didn’t get very far. I started again today, and did some digging in how to implement it.
If you have a look, you will see that I’ve got offsite links in italics, underlined with a dotted line, and with a small icon with an arrow. Just in case you want to do something similar, this is the coding I used (no need to look if you’re not into CSS coding or explations thereof!)…
a[href] {
padding-right: 15px;
background: transparent url(”http://forum.thespirit-online.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=969.0;id=115″) center right no-repeat;
font-style:italic;
border-bottom: dotted 1px #cc0000;
white-space: nowrap;
}

I woke up yesterday with a flash of inspiration to change the appearance of this blog. I realised that if I was going to be more successful at the things I want to do, I have to start with the vehicle for those things. That’s this. This is the vehicle for my future, as I travel into it.
Blogging and the internet is where it’s at for me. There’s a lot of possibilities and opportunities available for realising success via the internet, and there’s a lot of people already doing it. I’ve been extremely slow in picking up the ball, but now I’m running with it.

Have you ever thought that if the world wanted peace, then we’d have peace?
It seems to me that no matter what the people of the world says about peace, it’s only lip service to an idea that it doesn’t really want.
And war serves so many purposes for so many people. I don’t think the concept of global peace will ever see reality.

I wrote about finding out about my job application over here, but then with leaving for holiday the very day after finding out, I completely forgot about mentioning it on this blog. I actually thought I had, until Chancelucky just asked me about it, and when I tried to find the relevent post, I found nothing! I’m very sorry!
I didn’t get the job, and I didn’t write about it at the time because the manager told me that possibility, while slim, still existed that his first choice might not accept the offer, so it was still up in the air. It wasn’t finalised until probably the 20th Dec or thereabouts, when I got a text saying the successful applicant had accepted the offer.

I installed Skype a few days ago, but used it for the first time today.
Skype is a little program for making free calls over the internet to anyone else who also has Skype. It’s free and easy to download and use, and works with most computers.
Let me tell you it was perfect! The quality of voice through the earpiece was better, as far as I could tell, than the actual telephone system. There were no crackling sounds, and no lag.

QuickChat is a Firefox extension that allows you to chat to people in real time who are viewing the same web page you’re viewing. It sits in your status bar, along with the other extensions that are there, and allows you to see if there are any other QuickChat users on any of the web pages that you visit. If there are, and you feel like chatting to them - or at least seeing what they’re saying - then you click on it to open up a small frame at the bottom of Firefox that houses the chat window.
I’ve only been using it for a day, but it seems a pretty cool idea. If you use Firefox you can get it here.
