Add smiles to your blog

2 comments January 8th, 2007

Over at The Last Word is the code for you to add to your Blogger HTML. When you’ve done that, you can use smilies! :-)

Wheee! :-D

If you have padding or borders around your images, you may need to add the following code to your CSS (thanks again to Ramani, via comments he left on The Last Word):

.post-body img#new {
margin:0px;
padding:0px;
border:none;
}

We know it’s not harmful

I have to laugh at the recent news of a mystery smell in Manhattan. I’m not laughing that there’s a smell, I’m laughing at how much they use a particular series of words…

Mayor Bloomberg said the city does not know what the puzzling odor wafting over Manhattan and N.J. is, but “it does not appear to be dangerous.”‘

“Our sensors do not show any high concentration of natural gas that would give us cause to be concerned,” Bloomberg said at a morning press conference.

Forgive them

Someone told me that maybe we shouldn’t get mad when people do stupid shit, because they probably don’t know they’re doing anything wrong. This is interesting. I will consider this and report back.

It reminds me of a quote from somewhere else…

Forgive them father, for they know not what they do.

Forgiveness is something we all need to learn, especially in this changing world where more people are becoming stupid and forgetting their common sense.

Iraq not about the oil?

Oil giants to profit from law change

You got to love it when the Bush administration, Republicans and Bush lovers and sympathisers all have been saying over the past few years how the war in Iraq was never about the oil. Please…

Iraq’s massive oil reserves, the third-largest in the world, are about to be thrown open for large-scale exploitation by Western oil companies under a controversial law which is expected to come before the Iraqi Parliament within days.

It would give big oil companies such as BP, Shell and Exxon 30-year contracts to extract crude and allow the first large-scale operation of foreign oil interests in Iraq since the industry was nationalised in 1972.

It’s all in the mind

I was talking with my friend Garry a while back, and conversation turned to the perception of reality. The question was asked, is there one true reality?

I suggested that there isn’t, and even if there was, there would be absolutely no way to determine what that ‘one true reality’ was.

What is reality?

Reality is what you perceive it to be, isn’t it? Reality is defined by your perceptions. What you see, feel, hear, touch, taste and think all make up what your reality is to you.

Subscribe to a category!

Thanks again to Ramani for providing the code, I’ve now implemented the ability for you to subscribe to the RSS feed of any of the categories.

When you click on a Category, an RSS icon and ‘Subscribe’ appears at the top of the list of posts for that category. If you only want to be notified of posts for particular categories, then you can now subscribe to the category instead of the whole blog.

I hope this adds to your enjoyment. :-)

Catching up!

Wow, I did 9 posts in the past 12 hours… this one’s my 10th post! I apologise for the delay since I last posted. I’ve had a lot on my mind, as well as a lot to do.

  • planning and working on the move back home to Australia
  • xmas and new year activities
  • Emelie and Reine spending time here
  • organising things to sell
  • playing as much of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic as I can before I reformat the laptop and lose it (I only got an install copy, rather than a CD).

So that’s the reason for the delay. I hope to get back to normal soon. Thank you for your understanding!
