My name is Inga, I am from Sveeden

Add comment January 7th, 2007

Ok, the name’s actually Emelie, and she’s from Sweden, rather than ‘Sveeden’. Her and her partner, Raine (pronounced rrraYnuh, I think… He’s given me permission to call him Rain, so I don’t have to try to pronounce it Sweden-like. Very kind of him!), have honoured me with a visit.

I talked briefly about her in my Merry Christmas post, so I won’t go over old information again. It’s been fantastic to have them here, and to finally spend time with a close friend of mine who I never met… until now.

Goodbye Eve

Just over 3 years ago on Xmas Eve 2003 I obtained a small kitten which I called Eve.

Today I gave her away to some new owners. This was the last photo taken of her just last week:

This post is my tribute to Eve. As I’m writing this, sitting here in Starbucks, I’m finding it hard to keep the tears from building up in my eyes. She was a loved companion for the past 3 years, and I have many fond memories of her.

As a kitten:

Neo template tip

Someone sent me an email today asking how I did the menu that’s in the box above this post, that allows you to click on Home, About Me, etc. It’s very easy to do, actually.

First, you Add A New Page Element and choose HTML / Javascript. Then you insert the HTML that you want there (in my case it’s the menu). At the beginning however, you place the following code (without the spaces after and before the ):

And then, at the end of your HTML, you place the following code:

12 year old girl arrested for wetting her pants

2 comments January 7th, 2007

Last week a 12 year old girl was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, for wetting her pants. This week the charges have been dropped.

There’s a few things wrong with the whole story, however.

First, what goes through an adult’s mind that has him calling the police because a small, mentally handicapped girl is so scared of him that she wets herself?

Second, what goes through the mind of a cop that has them believe it’s reasonable to send officers out to investigate a 12 year old girl wetting herself?

Niche content? I think not

An article I recently wrote on Website and blog design talked about niche content. It’s been on my mind since then, about how I have tried writing niche content in the past with various blog experiments, but always gave up after a while. I have a politics blog that I don’t update as often as I should, and I’ve engaged in various other experiments that haven’t been successful.

Why weren’t they succesful? Simple. I didn’t have the time and the commitment for them. Ultimately, I didn’t have the passion for them

A thought about ‘crimes against humanity’

4 comments January 1st, 2007

Saddam Hussein was executed a few days ago for crimes against humanity. His crimes were apparently for being responsible for the deaths of 148 people who tried to rise up and overthrow him after the first Gulf War.

First, any country which has a bunch of their people try to rise up and overthrow the leading power apparently has the right to try and prevent it. In America, it’s what the FBI tries to ensure doesn’t happen. And I’m sure there have been plenty of groups in the US who have wanted to rise up and overthrow the government… If a country’s leadership tries to prevent internal unrest, is it reasonable that they be charged with crimes against humanity?

And so we’ve entered a new year. I’d like to wish all of you the very best for 2007. May it be better for you than 2006.
