The case of the murdered Marine

Add comment March 30th, 2007

Words fail me about how disgusting the US police force is becoming. Their use of tasers and shooting suspects before asking questions is becoming extremely rampant. Every day you hear about another new case, and there seems to be more happening all the time. Is the US police getting out of control with their authority?

Us soldiers in Iraq

Tell me how much you believe this shows the good that the US is doing in Iraq.

Do you know what you want?

Add comment March 23rd, 2007

Like many people you might be drifting through life, doing what you think you should be doing, but deep down inside you know you’re not doing what you want to do. You’re not even sure if you KNOW what you want to do!

Inside of you there’s like to be a state of confusion about what you want. The confusion goes something like this:

9 tips for financial improvement

Add comment March 23rd, 2007

There’s a lot of things you can do to improve your financial situation that’s just common sense, but so many people are too caught up in the drama of their lives that they’re unable to see what the common sense solution might be. When something feels incredibly complicated, then they believe that only incredibly complicated solutions will fix the problem. It’s just not true though.

What is true is that some of these tips for improving your situation will take discipline, and that’s probably the hardest thing about them.

Passive aggression and relationships

Passive aggression. Oh my, what a destructive attitude that is. It consists of a deep-seated attitude, almost a need, to erode the foundations of love and support. Thanks to Deidre’s patience, stubborness, and her own background of emotional issues, she’s still hanging in there with me, providing me with the support I need but don’t always see, and showing me how my attitudes are affecting our relationship.

Job update

Just a quick update to let you know that I’ve obtained a contract position for the next 3 months. It’s pretty much doing what I used to do in NZ, but earning twice the money. Very nice! So Deidre and I are celebrating tonight. Who wants to join us? :-)

The true state of America today

Add comment March 22nd, 2007

I found a great blog just now, quite by accident, and the first couple of paragraphs I read (in The True State of America Today) made me like the author immediately.
Everything is screwed up. It’s so horrible, I can barely get up in the morning. This once-great country of ours, ruined I tell ya! I sob in my coffee cup every morning as I look at the barren wasteland. I burst into tears when I see the utter depravity all around me. The evil BushHitler Machine and the Global Warming and the Democratic Congress and the Muslim invaders and the Fundamentalist Christians and the atheists have destroyed it all beyond redemption. Plus the corporations and the big government.

The Constitution lies in tatters. The Bible has been obliterated. The flag smells of dog poop. Justice is destroyed. Piles of burning bodies lie all around me as I struggle just to shave my cheeks in my bathroom every morning. Murder, rape, and pillage are all around me as I step outside my door on my way to work, as the roving bands of gay-killers and other Xtianists seek to destroy everything that moves. Even if I should manage to escape death during my soul-destroying 12 hour morning commute to my 280 hour a week job, I must cope at the end of it all with with the body collectors yelling “Bring Out Your Dead!” when I get out of my car and step over the rubble into my inadequate house every night, where my harpy shrew wife awaits to yell at me yet again that I forgot to take out the trash this morning–and I weep in agony.

History of blogs

Interesting post over at Instabloke’s blog: History of the Blog: The Evolution of Blogging.

Many have participated in the evolution of the medium and that also includes you and me. What’s more important than who did what is that the idea of blogging remains pure — an empowering technology that ALL of us can benefit from, and it is so much larger than any of it’s parts.

Finding your highest values

Deidre and I are in Sydney right now, taking it easy and visiting those that we’re close to. We’re here essentially to catch up with her friends and family, but I’ve taken the time to catch up with my friend Peter as well. He was going to run a ‘making wealth’ seminar today, but it was postponed instead. Luckily for me, he took me through it anyway.

Have a nice life

This blog has far too much varied content and I’ve known for a while now (you might have even seen me write about it) that in order for a blog to be successful it needs to be focused on specialised topics.

“You may know what to do, but do you do what you know?”

It’s time for me to do what I know.

Last year I started a website with this in mind, but never continued it. The site’s concept was to help its readers have a better life, by presenting articles or links to articles that, one way or another, would help you do something better in your life. It’s about adding value.
