hi Passion. A friend that we stayed with in Sydney was also surprised that family and health was not in my top 5 values, as they're in his. I said that's great, but everyone has different values. He has a family, I don't. He's concerned about health, I've never been in a hospital in my life - since I was born - so being unhealthy has never been part of my existence, therefore doesn't form part of my values.

One of the things I learnt was that those things we value are those things we either lack or lacked in our past.

If you lacked good health, then health is a value. If you lacked financial security - as I did - then financial security is a value. If you lacked loyalty - again, as I did from my parents and childhood 'friends' - then loyalty becomes a value.

Those that hoard their money do so because they never had it. Their financial security didn't exist, and now that it does, they're not going to let it go - even if it kills them.

A lot of my clients are residents of Rest Homes or supported accomdoation. A few of them sit on stacks of cash they would never in this life have the means to spend due to no family and ill health but not necessarily old age. It reminds me everyday as to what is important in my life - health, family and ultimately financial security. Without the first two the 3rd achievement is meaningless. With these three, I have the whole world.
