It must be good to be the King

Lewis ‘Scooter’ Libby, the former chief of staff for George Bush, was sentenced to 30 months in prison and fined US$250,000. George Bush overrules the justice system and lets his friend and loyal staff member out of prison.
“I respect the jury’s verdict. But I have concluded that the prison sentence given to Mr. Libby is excessive. Therefore, I am commuting the portion of Mr. Libby’s sentence that required him to spend thirty months in prison.”
Seriously, if he respected the jury’s verdict, he would have left it alone. But everyone knew he was going to protect the guy who lied for him.
