What are you doing over Christmas?

A friend asked me that question today. This was my answer, which I really wanted to include in this blog:
We’re going to Berri, Adelaide and Pt Augusta….Driving to Berri on Xmas Eve, spend it with my family as well as lunch on Xmas Day. After lunch we’re driving to Adelaide and having dinner with Deidre’s dad. Around lunchtime on the 26th we’re driving up to Pt Augusta and will be there until the 28th, when we’ll drive back to Berri, then back to Canberra on the 29th.
It’s going to be an awesome trip…. for the first time in around 15 years I’ll be having xmas with my entire family, including my brothers. When I realised a month ago that I wanted to do that before dad died, I immediately started crying. Anything that inspires you to tears has to be done, as far as I’m concerned.
Going to Pt Augusta is going to be part of the awesomeness…. I pretty much grew up there, from 1978 to 1985, before we moved to Berri. I haven’t seen it since 1991… 16 years. It’s going to be a pretty emotional christmas for me….

Sounds like your trip is going to be a great experience for you mate.
I’m headin up to Auckland to see family myself, just for Xmas & Boxing Day though as the new job requires I work the non-stat holidays.
Will be good to see the family for sure

Your Christmas plan sounds just perfect Alan! As usual my Christmas will be spent with hubby’s family in Hawkes Bay followed by a beach holiday for about 10 days. We just have to appreciate that we have family to be with on those special occasions! Talking about family, last night I spent a couple of anxious hours worrying that I may have lost my dad and in those two hours I had all sorts of thoughts in my mind including why I couldn’t be nicer to my dad… he turned out to be fine and I just realised that I would really miss him if one day he leaves us.
