I can’t believe that these are the most popular search terms that bring people to my site:
7.42% - my name is inga 3.16% - stubbed toe 2.19% - alanzeyes 1.70% - all blacks haka 1.22% - manifesting money 1.22% - neo template 1.09% - law of attraction love
You wouldn’t believe how many people are coming to this site by searching for ‘my name is Inga’. What’s the big deal about that? And my stubbed toe? Holy cow.
What this is telling me is that there are more people looking for Inga and stubbed toes than there are looking to manifest money.
That’s a photo of our two newest additions to our ‘family’. The ginger one is Deidre’s and she’s called him Spike. The dark one is mine and I’m still not sure what I’m naming her. I’ll work it out soon enough.
We got them yesterday afternoon. There was a whole litter at the pet store, and we came, we saw, we acquired! They’re 8 weeks old, and very cute.
I was just reading over here about how the author explained blogging to his grannie. Quite amusing, but it also reminded me of those times I’ve also had to explain blogging to old people.
Everyone, regardless of age, is aware of what a computer is. But of course I start out by asking “You know what a computer is, right?”
“Yes, of course I have, you fool!”
“Well, do you know what the internet is?”
“That’s that newfangled contraption that you need a computer for, right?”
“Right… well, you know how you can talk to people on the phone, right?”
I remember when being an avid internet user meant that you were a social hermit; that you would rather sit in a dark room in front of your computer than interact with people in the ‘real world’; and that there must be something wrong with you.
I think this was back in the days when extroverts ruled the world, and their opinion of people who would rather read books than to socialise with people was simply transferred to internet users. If you weren’t out playing sports or engaging in social activities like parties, etc, then there must be something wrong with you.
This is the weather right now (today is Saturday):
Yes, it’s quite warm. And I’ve been outside in it setting up our new outdoor setting to go with our BBQ.
It’s nice to have our own outdoor setting to relax at, and invite people around and have BBQ parties. We had Peter C around last weekend to help us christen our BBQ, ’cause that’s when we got it. Today we had the outdoor setting delivered, and Deidre’s having a girl’s party, inviting a number of her girlfriends around for a BBQ while I’m out roleplaying.
There’s just not enough wifi hotspots in Canberra that are either free or cheap. As a result we’ve got very little that’s available for ‘ordinary people’ (the plebs) to have access to. There’s a huge Westfield Shopping Centre here with a lot of traffic that simply doesn’t have any wifi hotspots!
I know this is standard around Australia, and even New Zealand. However, it’s not something I’m happy about, considering how much I want to use it myself - like right now, when I don’t have any internet at home.
Driving to work this morning I was witness to two near-accidents, with both of them involving idiots doing exactly the same thing.
Imagine you’re on a three-lane road, and you’ve got a car on the left and a car on the right, and they both want to inhabit the middle lane. At the same time. And they’re both determined to do it, come what may.
It’s like a strange game of chicken, where someone has to veer off first or there’ll be… trouble. Luckily someone did.
We’re planning on doing a bit of an adventure over Christmas… a long adventure. Should be plenty of photos at least!
It’ll start on the 24th December, when we drive to Berri in Sth Australia for xmas with my family. On the 25th December we’ll drive to Adelaide for xmas with Deidre’s dad. On the 26th December we’ll drive up to Port Augusta to see where I grew up. That should be interesting… On the 28th December we’ll drive back to Berri, where we’ll stay overnight before heading back to Canberra on the 29th December.
It’s the pain of not having the internet that I’m complaining about right now. It feels like I’m living in the past or something, where there’s no internet. I feel out of touch, like the world is moving on without me, and I’m missing out on something.
I guess that’s what happens when a great deal of your life is spent on the net, and then suddenly you don’t have it any more.
It started off great - I woke up! Always a good sign. Even got to work on time! I was pretty busy most of the day, which was ok, but then it went to hell around 4pm.
I was supposed to get a phone call from a technician who would be coming out to our new place - which we’re moving into tomorrow - to tell me when he was going to be there. He was going to install the phone and internet services. I had booked it a month ago, when I found out our new address. I had even phoned them two days ago to confirm it, which they did. So when I rang them at 4pm to find out why I hadn’t been called yet, I was dumbfounded when they told me the technician hadn’t been booked, and I would need to wait at least 2 weeks before they could book one.
