Cleaning up my blog

January 10, 2012 · 4 comments

I've mentioned it, but hadn't gotten around to it yet. I'm now starting the process of going through my blog post by post and deleting those posts that no longer mean anything to me, and never meant anything to anyone else (eg. no one ever commented on them).

There's over 1,200 posts dating back to 1998. I wonder how many I'll get done before bed tonight (it's 8:30pm right now)… I'll update progress in a reply to this. 🙂

Cleaning out the crap from my blog feels like it's also cleaning out the crap from my past. I think that keeping only what holds value for myself and for others is a good practice to set in place as I move forward.

fascinating… I'm 4 years into reviewing the posts, and I've only deleted about 4…. Maybe 95% or more of what I've written about my life's experiences still holds great value for me…

After getting almost 6 years into my 13 years worth of history, and having only deleted about 10 posts, I decided that I need to do something different.

So I found a website that converts your blog to PDF and went through the process. I now have a PDF file of my entire blog – all 15 Mb of it!

Now I can delete my blog and remove it from the internet, moving forward with G+ and my new

I really like that idea. My blog was always mainly a repository for my life's observations so that I will always remember.

Keeping a PDF of it all and moving on with a new medium is now a better solution for me than keeping an online blog.

Everything is changing. has been my online 'identity' for many years now. But my recent Google search experiment has shown me that it's a failed identity.

Definitely time to start afresh.

Ooh starting fresh sounds fun. It will be a big relief to have a clean slate.
