Welcome back

It’s been about 3 weeks since I last posted here. A big reason for this has been due to the fact that I’ve been playing Eve Online quite heavily. It’s an online game I’ve been involved in before, and I got back into it a few months ago. What with not working, I’ve been occupying my spare time quite heavily in the game.

History of the future

Add comment November 28th, 2005

Back in the beginning of this year, I wrote a timeline to provide a 'history of the future', to be used for a roleplaying game I created that was set in 2030, a combination of the Werewolf and Cyberpunk genres. I created this history based a little bit on how I saw current events developing, and also some of the 'historical facts' that were provided by John Titor, an alleged time traveller. Bringing it all together, and using established Cyberpunk themes (eg. cybernetic developments and early space flight, etc), I created my own history. Interestingly, I had Russia and China supporting Iran in 2006. They beat my 'prediction' by a year.

Star Trek: End of Federation

Add comment November 26th, 2005

This is a story I created in the Star Trek play-by-email game I ran, but which finished early this year. This story began during game play, but never continued beyond April 2383 (see below), when the game ended due to lack of interest. The story was supposed to be for the background story of the galaxy, which the players and games would be part of. The 'Erratan Galactic Republic', or the EGR, was based on the Empire from Star Wars. The following is a timeline I created with my friend Garry's help, and which may one day be turned into a story. (If you want to write it, contact me. As an idea, it's copyrighted by me.)

2383, March
- EGR Task Force (8 destroyers, 2 battleships, 1 factory ship) enters Kaerine space, sends out probes throughout the galaxy
- Federation goes on alert at all the mysterious probes entering their territory

Roleplaying games

Most of you reading this probably won't be into roleplaying game, never have been, and never will be. Some of you won't even know what roleplaying games (RPGs) are, and some of you will only know them as those activities you get up to in your bedroom. And really, that's where we'd rather you keep them, so please DON'T tell us about it in the comments section. For those of you who have been a little sheltered, let me give you a bit of background into what roleplaying games are.

My World of Warcraft character

Add comment September 2nd, 2005

I play World of Warcraft a reasonable amount. When I have time to really. This is my character.

His name is Krayc, he's currently 17th level, and he's a Hunter. That's his pet, Kittey. She's a 17th level Nightsaber, or something like that. Now, the reason I'm putting this in this journal is mainly for my interest only. Every 10 levels from now on, I'm going to put a picture of Krayc, and the pet (which might change). I want a record of appearance, just to see how he looks every 10 levels from now on. (Maximum character level is 60.) Subsquent pictures will be done as updates to this post.

Black or white

Add comment August 7th, 2005

It's been said, particularly during a recent game of 'Scruples', that everything for me is 'black or white', and so it was easy to determine what my answers would be to various questions that concerned how I would react to various scenarios.

For so many years now, I've always been told by people that there are many shades of grey in situations, and that nothing is either black or white. I've always disagreed. I've always believed that everything IS either black or white, and that far too many people shade something grey or in various colours of the rainbow, when they don't need to. I believe that people often unnecessarily complicate things. I try not to.

Bloody hardware faults!

My laptop, the new one, has had a crisis yesterday.  The screen started flickering and fading to darkness, and a high-pitched sound like something shorting out began at the same time.  This happened just as I was turning it off after finishing work.  I thought that it was 'shorting' because the power cable wasn't plugged in properly, so I didn't think anything of it.  However, when I turned it back on again at home, exactly the same problem.
